WITH THE BEHAVIOUR SEEN OF LATE,SOME COUNCILLORS DON'T KNOW WHAT PROPER CONDUCT IS,BEAUOCRACIES TOO?9 September at 16:12 from atlas
All those involved in serving the public, whether it be THE COUNCILLORS,THE BEAUOCRACIES,CONSULTANTS,CONTRACTORS or PEAK BODIES they are expected to abide by the CODES OF CONDUCT laid down in the LOCAL GOVERNMENT Act.
Councillors are expected to behave in a manner appropriate to their position.
Every Council has a code of conduct which includes all the principles relevant to appropriate behaviour.
Councillors must act with integrity, exercise their responsibilities impartially and not improperly advantage or disadvantage any person.
A Councillor who breaches the code of conduct, may be brought before an independent COUNCILLOR CONDUCT PANEL,which has disciplinary powers.
SERIOUS MISCONDUCT MAY BE REFERRED TO The Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal.
In the opinion of THE SWEENEY FLATS POST .com.au,stronger action needs to be taken against any person or company, associated with LOCAL GOVERNMENT who breaches THE CODE OF CONDUCT,in particular any one who does not abide and operate within the 4 PILLARS OF GOOD GOVERNANCE.
Further more all staff should be brought to account for their breaches of the code of conduct. However, getting the peak body responsible to investigate a complaint is like complaining to your mother in law about your spouse!
