WHAT ARE COUNCILS DOING TO ENFORCE and CONTRIBUTE TO GOOD PLANNING MEASURES in their MUNICIPALITIES11 February at 22:27 from atlas
This headline should ring alarm bells in the COUNCIL CHAMBERS of every municipality in Victoria .
Equally, every Ratepayer and Citizen ,alike should be alarmed at the total dereliction of duty,by those we put our trust in to serve us;yes the beauocracies of each Council, headed by a Chief Executive Officer,to enforce the bylaws and Town Planning Permit Conditions.
Of course the encumbent Councillors of the day, thump their chests with ridiculous power,it beg the the question ,if they give final approval, what are they doing in all this?
Yes ,you are right ,SITTING on THEI R HANDS,
My name is Paul Slattery, and I am the Editor and Publisher of THE SWEENEY FLATS POST,this newspaper!
In my past life I was the owner of Dapples Garden Management Services,a division of Dapples PTY.LTD.
Part of that company ,was a business called THE DAPPLED GARDEN,whose function was as a nursery and display garden catering for many garden lovers and visitors from all over Australia.
Before the Dappled Garden ,came into being,we purchased the property at 212 Canterbury Road Heathmont;images attached show the ORININAL WEILAND FAMILY HOMESTEAD ,and a resemblance of most of the foliage and trees on the block.
Before we could proceed with the DAPPLED GARDEN project,we were required to undergo stringent permit tests and planning applications, where people were given the right to object.
I remember well ,the then CHIEF EXECUTIVE MR.ROBERTSON ,of Ringwood City Council, playing hardball with us,by,again, trying to place stringent conditions on what we could do with the site.
When he came out to do a site inspection,he told me we had to remove all the foliage facing Canterbury Rd.; I challenged his reasoning, and ended up taking the matter to appeal, winning hands down, getting every thing we wanted.
We then started work ,fencing the block, and dismantling the white ant infested house. We managed to salvage bricks, and oregan,as well as verandah posts and roofing iron.
There was numerous artifacts and items post 1900's,but the old toilet and caste iron bath, were the most treasured of all.
There were interesting stories circulating about the previous tenants of the property.
The most interesting and very true story was of some resident bikies occupying the property, which was heaverly fortressed, and, as well as being a sly grog outlet, they made drugs, and in the small bungalow on the property they employed a prostitute.
There were peep holes in the walls and on the ceiling above the single bed,a few words were written,"BOY IS HE GOOD!",so one can only imagine ,one person like to be on the top.
Its always good to have a bit of mystery, intrigue, and spice in a continuing story.
The Planning Story continues........
